Andrew (Chesh) Jones
13th Man, John Edwards had gone 2 days before, to help his acclimatisation.
Decent flight – good food, watched 2 films.
Amsterdam to Quito – 11.5 hours flight
Met by our hosts Ossy and Amber, in the new Quito airport.
Tansfer by bus, 1 hour to Rumiloma.
Rumiloma was originally Ossy’s home. Now developed into a hotel and bar. It was located in a beautiful valley above Quito. Rumiloma was 10,500 ft high above sea level and we all felt quite short of breath with minimal exertion.
Room allocation; I shared with Matt Murray, with Peter Croke in adjacent master bedroom. We had a nice big Jacuzzi. Tried to use it twice – one occasion water was too cold and on the second, it stopped all the water supply to the whole hotel!
Travelled in 4×4 ‘s to a restaurant in Quito for dinner. Beautiful views over the city of Quito at night.
