Porthcawl Christmas Swim

Event: Porthcawl Christmas Swim

Date Held: December 25th, 2018

Organiser: Porthcawl Christmas Swim

Venue: Coney Beach, Porthcawl

Prostate Cymru has been chosen as the nominated charity for this year’s Porthcawl Christmas Swim. Established in 1965, the Porthcawl Christmas Swim has been raising thousands of pounds for local charities and organisations over the last fifty years. Participants of this year’s event, the 54th annual swim, are encouraged to raise money for Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales to support men with benign prostate disease and prostate cancer.

Sponsored by Swim Co Swim School, the event often sees thousands of people brave the cold water of Coney Beach, Porthcawl on Christmas Day for charity, tradition and fun. It’s one of the key events of the year for Porthcawl and Bridgend with visitors and swimmers attending from all over the world as well as locally creating a great atmosphere on Christmas morning.

Registration starts from 10:30am with participants entering the water at 11:45am. There are separate male and female changing facilities close to the beach. A highlight of the Christmas swim is the creative fancy dress that many entrants wear for their morning dip. This year’s fancy dress theme is superheroes. Fancy dress is not mandatory but is encouraged.
