The Big Walk returns for 2019 on Saturday 13th July. This year there are two routes for participants to choose from: a short route equivalent to a half marathon from the Principality Stadium, Cardiff to The Duke of Wellington, Cowbridge and our historic Big Walk route equivalent to a marathon from the Principality Stadium, Cardiff to Kenfig Hill RFC, Bridgend. The popular event is a physical and mental challenge with a great team feeling and camaraderie.

The Big Walk was launched in 2014 to raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales supporting men with benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. In its inaugural year, 55 keen walkers took on the challenge. In 2015, the number of participants more than trebled to 185 and in 2016, an impressive 286 people took part in the event. In 2017 an amazing 352 walkers took on the challenge and for the event’s fifth anniversary in 2018 a record 462 walkers took part in extreme heat.

Surprise celebrity guests start the walk each year and over the last five years we have been joined by Warren Gatland OBE, Lloyd Ashley, Rhys Priestland, Gethin Jenkins, Owen Teale, Sir Gareth Edwards CBE and Sam Warburton OBE. This year we are delighted to be joined by Welsh comedy and music legend Max Boyce MBE.

If you would like to take part in The Big Walk 2019 click ‘Enter Today’ on our Big Walk website. The entry fee is £20 for the event and we ask that a minimum of £20 is also raised in sponsorship.

Last year saw a record number of teams enter The Big Walk including organisations, businesses and clubs. For more information about team entries please contact chris.leyshon@prostatecymru.com
