Third Nut Sportive

Event: Third Nut Sportive

Date Held: May 5th, 2019

Organiser: Nick Powell

Venue: Brecon Leisure Centre

A cycling sportive aims to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cymru. The “Third Nut Sportive” event, organised by Event Chimps’ Nick Powell, will take place on Sunday 5th May. The sportive is a great, non-competitive but challenging day out for riders of all abilities. The event is supported by Welsh Cycling and powered by British Cycling.

Starting and finishing at Brecon Leisure Centre (also the event HQ), there are two routes for participants to choose from: 65 miles and 110 miles. Both routes will be fully signposted, include manned feed stations of refreshments and mechanical assistance will be on hand during the event.

The short route takes in beautiful countryside including towns and villages such as Brecon, Clyro, Kington and Cwm Owen. The long route also takes participants through breathtaking scenery and splits from the short route at Builth Wells. The long route involves cycling through Llanwrtyd Wells, Llandovery, Trecastle and Sennybridge as well as tackling the infamous Devil’s Staircase.

As the Third Nut Sportive is supporting Prostate Cymru, £2 from each entry will be donated to the charity. Cyclists wishing to take part in the event can register on British Cycling.
