Welcome to Prostate Cymru

Prostate Cymru Golf Day 2018

Prostate Cymru’s annual golf day, the Ray Murray Golf Challenge, took place on Friday 11th May at Machynys Peninsula Golf Club in Llanelli. The golf day is one of the charity’s key events in their annual calendar and is supported by a number of individuals and businesses from across Wales.

On arrival golfers were invited to take part in a number of small fundraising activities such as guessing the number of tees in the jar. Following some practice on the driving range and a coffee and bacon roll, the teams took to the course to start the competition with a shotgun start. Golfers enjoyed eighteen holes of golf whilst battling winds and rain. A raffle was held and prizes were presented to teams and individuals in the evening after a delicious two-course meal.

The winning team were the Alto Rebels from office technology firm AltoDigital with Ingram Wealth Management and the Bogeymen Golf Society taking second and third place respectively. John Fussell from Dunraven Select won the prize for nearest the pin and Dan Evans from Blake Morgan won the longest drive. The sweeps winners were Paul Dean from Barker Corp for guessing the number of lost balls on the course, Jack Walsh from Alto Rebels for guessing the number of tees in the jar and John Morgan from Tathan Saints who correctly guessed where Prostate Cymru Chairman Andy Thomas’ first shot was going to land on hole 16 as part of the Spot the Surgeons Drive game. The prizes were presented by founder trustee Lyn Murray.
