Welcome to Prostate Cymru

Charity Calendar

Local residents of Porthcawl have got together to bare all for a nude charity calendar aimed at raising money for Prostate Cymru.

The group were inspired to support the organisation after local resident, Bethan Davies was involved in a play the ‘Calendar Girls’ where the Women’s Institute fundraised for a local hospital by posing nude for a calendar. Bethan Davies and her partner Phil Duckworth put the idea to their friends in the local pub, The Ancient Briton. Speaking about the idea, Bethan Davies said, “We all agreed that this would be a perfect way to help raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer as it is one of the most common cancers in Welsh men.”

Each year over 2500 Welsh men are diagnosed and 550 Welsh men die from the disease. Prostate cancer is 17% more common in Welshmen compared to Englishmen. The reason for this is not known. Prostate Cymru is dedicated to fighting Prostate Cancer, procuring equipment and raising awareness here in Wales.

The calendars are on sale now at £5 from the Ancient Briton in Newton, with all the profits going to Prostate Cymru.
