Welcome to Prostate Cymru

Christie Squires’ Great North Run

Christie Squires, a Careers Advisor from Carmarthen, will take part in the Great North Run on 10th September for Prostate Cymru. The Great North Run is commonly known as the largest half marathon in the United Kingdom. The popular 13.1 mile route takes participants from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields.

Christie is running to support her father who was diagnosed with prostate cancer and in memory of her uncle who sadly passed away following the advancement of his prostate cancer. Christie is aiming to raise funds for Prostate Cymru through her participation in the event but also wants to raise awareness at work and in her community.

Christie has previously completed the Cardiff Half Marathon. She starred in the BBC Wales television programme “Alfie’s Angels” in which former rugby player Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas trained and supported 100 women who had never run before to complete the popular Welsh half marathon.

Christie has set up a JustGiving page for online donations which can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Christie-Squires2
