Cor Meibion De Cymru Concert

Cor Meibion De Cymru is hosting a concert in aid of Prostate Cymru on Saturday 14th October. The concert will begin at 7:00pm and takes place at The Market Hall in Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire.

Cor Meibion De Cymru was formed in the early 1980s to tour the east of the United States. Following a successful tour featuring performances in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington, New York and Buffalo, the choir decided to continue as an ensemble. To date the choir have performed a further twenty international tours as well as performing locally.

The choir has a number of regional rehearsal groups who convene every three weeks for full ensemble rehearsals in Cwmafan, near Port Talbot. Elaine Robins is the current Musical Director of the choir which is a member of the Welsh Association of Male Choirs.

The choir will be joined at the concert by three soloists: Aled Wyn Davies, Catrin Aur and Iwan Wyn Parry. Aled Wyn Davies is a tenor from Powys. Aled began his career as a folk singer before becoming a tenor soloist at the turn of the millennium. In 2014, Aled was unveiled as one of the Three Welsh Tenors ensemble alongside renowned singers Rhys Meirion and Aled Hall. Catrin Aur is a multi-award winning soprano from Carmarthenshire who enjoys performing both locally and internationally. Iwan Wyn Parry is a baritone from Gwynedd who has performed extensively as a soloist with a number of Welsh choirs.
