Holy Island to Holy City Cycle

A charity cycling marathon has been organised to raise awareness and funds for four cancer charities: Prostate Cymru, Breast Cancer Care Cymru, Alaw Ward (Ysbyty Gwynedd) and a testicular cancer charity. Inspired to help friends and family who have been affected by a range of cancers, the challenge has been organised by Anglesey County Councillor and Holyhead Town Councillor Jeff Evans who will be tackling the cycle with friend Clive Evans. Another friend Garry Jones will be driving the support vehicle.

The epic challenge will see Jeff and Clive battling inclement weather conditions as they cycle from the Holy Island (Holyhead, North Wales) to the Holy City (Vatican City, Italy). The duo will set off from Holyhead on 6th January 2017 and aim to reach Italy by the Six Nations rugby international game of Italy vs. Wales on 5th February 2017, completing the cycle shortly after in Vatican City. The route will take Jeff and Clive through Wales, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Alps, Switzerland, Italy and Vatican City.

The group would like to thank the following companies and individuals who have supported their cycling marathon already: Irish Ferries for providing their overseas travel, Halfords for cycling equipment and Councillor JV Owen who is supplying the support vehicle for their event.

Sponsorship can be donated into a dedicated Holy Island/City bank account that the organisers have set up for the ride. If you wish to donate please note that the sort code is 53-50-53 and the account number is 57099316. The funds raised will be split equally between the four charities following the completion of the event. If you have any queries regarding sponsorship please contact Councillor Jeff Evans via Jeffreyevans@anglesey.gov.uk or call 01407 760556.
