Prostate Cymru is the nominated charity for the Pen Llyn Winter Ultra Marathon this year. Two runners, Gordon Hughes and Steve Harris, have pledged to raise £500 each for the charity whilst other participants are also encouraged to support the charity through fundraising. The 35.5 mile challenging mixed terrain race starts at 9:00am on Saturday 9th November and has a ten hour cut off time for completion. The race, which is limited to 150 runners, starts and finishes at Pwllheli Golf Club.

The first edition of the Pen Llyn Ultra Marathon took place in 2015 and has grown in popularity since for both the summer and winter versions of the race. The route, although challenging, is in an area of outstanding natural beauty as much of the Llyn Peninsula is listed in the Register of Landscapes of Outstanding Historic Interest in Wales. The Wales Coastal Path runs right around the Llyn Peninsula, crossing fields with hand-forged kissing gates and passing immaculate coves, cliffs, beaches, churches and forts.

In addition to enjoying the natural beauty of the course, participants will have three hot checkpoints on route to keep them warm and their energy levels up. On completion of the race, entants will receive a race t-shirt, unique winter ultra medal, soup, hot drinks and access to shower facilities.
