Rhys’ Ladder Climb

Event: Rhys’ Ladder Climb

Date Held: August 18th, 2018

Organiser: Rhys Richards

Venue: Anglesey

Rhys Richards from Anglesey is taking on a unique challenge to raise funds for Prostate Cymru and raise awareness of prostate cancer in men in Wales. On Saturday 18th August Rhys will be doing a sponsored ladder climb. He will be doing the equivalent of climbing up and down Snowdon (2170 metres) by climbing up and down a ladder.

Rhys decided to fundraise for Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales, following his father’s prostate cancer diagnosis last year. His late grandfather had also suffered with prostate cancer increasing Rhys and his father’s risk of having the disease due to a family history to 1 in 3. This worrying statistic spurred Rhys on to raise awareness of the risk statistics of prostate cancer and to come up with a completely unique and different fundraising event.

Rhys has had a lot of support from his friends and family for the extreme challenge, making him even more determined to complete it! Rhys has been collecting sponsorship in person and also has a JustGiving page to receive donations online: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rhys-elis
