Next summer will see a team of men undertaking the Walk of Wales. More than 1000 miles in 44 days. Every penny raised will be invested into improving outcomes for men across Wales
The eight dedicated men are already in full training, receiving extensive guidance from experienced walkers to ensure they are well prepared for the demands of the 44 day journey.
Traversing the demanding Coastal Path and Offa’s Dyke, they will complete the full circumference of Wales, starting and finishing in Cardiff.
Prostate Cymru’s Walk of Wales 2026 was officially launched at the high profile Wales v New Zealand Autumn International on Saturday, November 22nd.
This strategic partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union successfully transformed a major sporting fixture into the starting line for a sustained health campaign.
The campaign is engineered to save lives through proactive engagement, encouraging men across Wales to engage in open conversations about their health and the importance of early detection.
Beyond awareness, the Walk has a tangible financial goal, raising an ambitious £300,000.
This vital investment is specifically earmarked to fund Specialist Cancer Nurses across all six Welsh health boards.
Andy Thomas, Chairman of Prostate Cymru and a front runner of the challenge, stressed the urgency of this mission.
He said, “With each step, we want to raise awareness, inspire men to get tested, and fund vital support for families affected by this disease. The aim is to fund six Specialist Cancer Nurses so we can improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of life for men and their families across the nation.”
This commitment ensures personalised support and expert care close to home for every man facing prostate disease.
Crucially, the Walk will deliver a parallel program of education and proactive health action.
Awareness talks, alongside accessible PSA testing, will be integrated along the route. Pop up health clinics and community sessions will be hosted in key locations.
Community engagement is key. Nine specific walks have been identified, allowing fundraisers to join the main team and connect with the movement in summer 2026.
Support from former rugby players and Prostate Cymru Ambassadors, including Alex Cuthbert, Rhys Priestland, and Lyn Jones, will further amplify the message across the sporting community.
The Walk of Wales 2026 is more than a physical achievement; it’s a nationwide call to action, turning every mile walked into a potential lifeline for men across Wales.
Follow their journey, join a walk, and support the mission to put men’s health first.
