Welsh Association of Male Choirs

The Welsh Association of Male Choirs has decided to support Prostate Cymru at its upcoming major events. The association was formed in 1962 to collectively address the needs of Male Choirs across Wales. To date, the association has 67 members in Wales and a further 13 members in England and 3 overseas.

Every three years the association holds a large choir concert called ‘A Festival of Massed Male Voices’ at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The next concert will be held on Saturday 19th May 2018 in aid of Prostate Cymru. The choir will be under the direction of Dr. Alwyn Humphreys and accompanied by Caradog Williams on the piano and Huw Tregelles Williams, the Association President, on the organ.  The massed choir will be made up of the following choirs: Abertillery Orpheus, Beaufort, Bois Goetre Hen A’r Gylch. Bois Y Castell, Bois Y Felin, Côr Meibion Bro Dysynni, Burry Port, Caldicot, Cambrian, Côr Meibion De Cymru, Cwmann, Côr Meibion Dyffryn Amman, Côr Meibion Flint. Haverfordwest, Mansfield, Morriston RFC, Côr Meibion Mynydd Mawr, Ogmore Valley, Oxford Welsh, Pembroke & District, Pontnewydd, Rhayader, Rhymney Silurian, Snowdown Colliery, Swansea, Tenby, Tonna and Whitland & District.  There will also be supporting artists at the event.

The Welsh Association of Male Choirs also have a stand (no. 251/252) at this year’s National Eisteddfod of Wales in Castle Meadows, Abergavenny. As the association’s nominated charity, members of Prostate Cymru will be present to talk about the charity and raise awareness at the festival which runs from 30th July to 6th August.
