GD Harries & Son pledge their support to Prostate Cymru

Narberth based Haulage Contractors and Quarry Operators G D Harries & Son have recently committed their company to working with the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru to raise awareness about a disease that affects 1 in 8 men in Wales, which becomes 1 in 3 if there is a family history. The incidence of prostate cancer in Wales is 17% higher than it is in England and no one can explain why.

Being one of Pembrokeshire’s fastest growing companies, G D Harries & Son employ more than 300 men. They are now working with Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru to explore ways that the charity can use the company’s considerable business network and influence to distribute information about prostate disease to the wider community.

Creating awareness about prostate cancer is a key issue as a high percentage of prostate cancer cases are curable, but early detection is a critical factor to ensure a positive outcome. This partnership with G D Harries & Son will result in many more men being better informed about the early signs of prostate cancer and the importance of seeking early medical advice.
