The bi-annual Llanarthne Big Breakfast returned this past November, proving once again that the most important meal of the day is best enjoyed with friends, neighbours, and a shared sense of purpose.
In a stunning display of generosity and community effort, the event has smashed previous records, raising a phenomenal £20,108.50 for Prostate Cymru.
This marks the third time the Llanarthne community has come together for this bi-annual gathering, and the momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
With this latest contribution, the event has now raised a cumulative total of nearly £50,000 for the charity since its inception.
It is a staggering achievement for a local village event and a testament to the hard work of the organisers and the unwavering support of the local area.
A dedicated team of volunteers worked tirelessly to keep the plates moving and the tea flowing, serving well over 300 breakfasts to a packed house.
From the kitchen to the front of house, the event was defined by a “real community spirit,” with residents of all ages pitching in to make the morning a seamless success.
The event’s organisers have extended a heartfelt thank you to the main sponsors who made the morning possible.
Special recognition goes to Simon Lewis of Nisa Local Drefach, Brian and Helen Jones of Castell Howell Foods, Sioned Jones at Swansea Building Society, Ivor Williams Trailers, and Rees Richards & Partners.
A special note of gratitude is also due to Julie Fairburn and HSBC for their generous match funding, which significantly boosted the final total.
Beyond the main sponsors, the event was supported by numerous local businesses and individuals who donated prizes for the raffle and silent auction, as well as general donations from supporters who could not attend on the day.
The money raised at Llanarthne will go directly to helping men in Wales. Prostate Cymru is the leading prostate health charity in Wales, with a mission to raise awareness and fund innovation.
With recent studies showing prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, our work is more vital than ever.
The Llanarthne Big Breakfast has firmly established itself as a key fixture in the local calendar, not just as a fundraiser, but as a celebration of community resilience and kindness.
