Penknife Club Put On Their Walking Boots For Prostate Cymru

One of the most energetic and innovative fundraising teams in Pembrokeshire is the St Davids Penknife Club. They are a group of friends who are very active in their community supporting various causes throughout the year from a series of annual events.

In 2014 they decided to make the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru their chosen charity for their Annual Family Memorial Walk for three years. In the first year they raised £1,423 with 30 walkers, in 2015 it was £1,640 and last year, which was the final year, £2,500 making a total of £5,563 with the walkers increasing to over 60.

Their efforts were recognised recently at the Prosate Cymru Ambassadors Lunch in Cardiff when they were awarded a certificate in recognition of the support that they have given Prostate Cymru over the past three years not only through the Annual walk but also supporting other events in the community for the charity.

Photographed receiving the cheque on behalf of the Charity committee member Julia Horton-Powdrill stated “The money raised will be used in raising awareness, supporting treatment and improving equipment together with funding research and innovation across Wales.”

Prostate Cymru have an awareness team who provide free of charge workplace awareness sessions and talks to other groups. For more information visit www.prostatecymru.com
