Welcome to Prostate Cymru

Rugby Legends Named As Prostate Cymru Ambassadors

Prostate Cymru is proud to announce that rugby legends Ieuan Evans MBE, Mike Phillips, Rhys Priestland, and Lloyd Williams have officially joined the charity as ambassadors.

Together, they are lending their voices to our most ambitious campaign yet: The Walk of Wales 2026.

Ieuan Evans MBE, current British & Irish Lions chair, Tour Manager of the Lions Tour 2025, and former Wales Captain, has taken his charitable support to the next level in the past 12 months.

Not only completing the grueling Big Trek to Namibia, in which the team of 25 walkers took on a 100k trek across the Namib Desert to raise vital funds for the charity, but also bravely sharing his own personal experience with prostate cancer in the Wales v New Zealand match day programme, ahead of the launch of the Walk of Wales.

Ieuan is now lacing up his boots once more. He will join the team for some of the legs for the Walk of Wales, a 1,000-mile journey over 44 days circumnavigating the Welsh coastline and Offa’s Dyke.

Joining Ieuan is Mike Phillips. The former scrum-half has already raised over £65,000 through his annual Charity Golf Day at Derllys Court with Paul Kirk and Tommy Williams.

The annual event has raised over £65,000, winning Team of the Year at Prostate Cymru’s fundraising awards, The Blue Tie Ball.

Alongside him are Rhys Priestland and Lloyd Williams.

The duo took centre stage in the recently released Walk of Wales launch video, filmed to inspire the nation ahead of the 2026 challenge.

The Walk of Wales is a grueling 1,000-mile journey over 44 days, circumnavigating the entire Welsh coastline and Offa’s Dyke.

The funds raised by our ambassadors and supporters are earmarked for a vital cause: funding six Specialist Cancer Nurses to ensure every man in Wales has access to world-class care close to home.

We are encouraging the general public to join us on this quest.

The public legs will span the country, starting on the 27th June from the Millenium Centre.

Who is at risk of prostate cancer in Wales?

Currently, 1 in 8 men in Wales will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. This risk increases to 1 in 3 for those with a family history and 1 in 4 for Black men.

In Wales 1 in 5 men will be diagnosed too late for a cure. Early diagnosis is the key to saving lives.

The money raised by the Walk of Wales will be funding six Specialist Cancer Nurses to ensure every man in Wales has access to world-class care close to home.

Specialist Cancer Nurses are the vital link in a patient’s journey, providing a “named key worker” who helps men navigate the complex landscape of diagnosis and treatment.

By funding these specialist roles, Prostate Cymru ensures that every man across the Wales has access to expert advice, from managing treatment side effects to psychological support, while also increasing the efficiency of the Welsh NHS by reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and streamlining care pathways closer to home
