JOB SUMMARY

Prostate Cymru is Wales’ leading prostate health charity, where the focus is generating awareness, fundraising, research and developing support services for an issue that will affect 1/8 men.

 The charity is looking for an enthusiastic Communications Executive to join their busy team, to coordinate and implement fundamental elements of both the internal and external communication plans.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as proven experience creating engaging and creative content. Candidates will need to be competent navigating several digital platforms, primarily social media, email systems and company website. 

The Communications Executive will be the key contact for the externally based Prostate Cymru awareness team members, therefore the candidate must be able to demonstrate efficient organisation skills and confident in establishing strong working relationships.

This is a full-time position, working Monday – Friday during regular office hours. Some weekend work and evening work required.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

CONTENT CREATION 

Responsible for proactively managing & producing creative and engaging content across multiple online & offline communication platforms – Awareness messaging, charity events, volunteer & fundraiser recruitment and company news.

  • Social media- Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Responding to social media queries
  • Continuously manging, updating the developing all relevant communication schedules and planners.
  • Daily upkeep of the charity’s website so that all displayed content is engaging, relevant and correct
  • Generating regular communication with various external databases -newsletters, emails and website.
  • Continuously improve digital offerings by capturing and analysing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
  • Where necessary working with external designers to produce strong visual content.
  • Copywriting & proof reading – press releases, promotional pieces, charity news stories, fundraiser communication and marketing material.
  • General support of the overarching marketing and communication plan.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATION

  • Generating regular communication with all internal databases – trustees, friendship groups, awareness team. Including monthly newsletters.
  • Attending awareness team meetings – preparation and minute taking
  • Coordination of awareness team -Promote Awareness Talks, distribute and allocate requests. Liaise with venues and organisers
  • Ensuring all Head Office staff (change to stakeholders) are aware of key charity activities, news and events.

ADMINISTRATIVE & EVENT SUPPORT

  • Assist with fundraiser queries over the phone and via email
  • Develop a good understanding of the charity’s online registration system
  • General support to the PC Event Team, including (when required) on the day event attendance.
  • Supporting the fundraising procedures, from banking and producing content for fundraiser correspondence.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven experience producing engaging content across various online & offline platforms
  • Strong communication skills – written & verbal
  • A creative & pro-active thinker
  • A good understanding of executing digital marketing campaigns
  • Must enjoy and work well in a team environment
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organisational ability

DESIRABLE

  • Previous practical experience devising and implementing communication plans.
  • Relevant degree qualification.
  • An interest in the charity sector
  • A UK driving licence
  • Familiar with marketing platform mailchimp, or similar.
  • Welsh speaking

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • To carry out all operations and activities in the prescribed manner
  • Use the correct tools and equipment for the operation including any relevant safety equipment or protective clothing
  • Report any defects in equipment or protective clothing immediately
  • Avoid improvising or taking short cuts, which would entail unauthorised or unnecessary risks
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working area
  • Report accidents or near miss incidents promptly
  • Suggest ways of eliminating or reducing hazards
  • Co-operate with accident/incident investigations in order to prevent reoccurrence
  • Develop a personal concern for your own safety and that of your colleagues
  • Set a personal example
