Welcome to Prostate Cymru

Barcelona 2 Monaco Presentation Evening

The proceeds of a cycling challenge were presented to Prostate Cymru at a special presentation evening on Friday 20th January. Members of the Barcelona 2 Monaco fundraising team presented Prostate Cymru with a cheque for £42,000 at the Hi-Tide in Porthcawl. The evening was also a chance for members of the team to catch up and reminisce about their successful trip thanks to videos filmed by local photographer Lloyd Williams.

In September, a team of 48 cycled from Barcelona to Monaco for Prostate Cymru. The epic ride was organised by Huw Jones of Finnegan’s Fish and Chips and David Lloyd, who previously organised the Porthcawl to Paris challenge in 2014.

During their trip the team battled challenging weather conditions such as persistent heavy rain from Barcelona to Platja d’Aro and tackled tough terrain such as dirt and gravel tracks in strong winds between Canet and Sète.

The fourth day was extremely special for the team as they embarked on the challenge of cycling Mont Ventoux which had been incorporated into the route by the organisers. At 1912 metres, Mont Ventoux is the highest mountain in the Provence region of France and is often used in the Tour de France. Luckily, the cyclists had good weather for the relentless climb and were rewarded by amazing views at the summit.

Following their successful climb of Mont Ventoux, the group continued their journey through Southern France via Toulon and St Tropez. The team completed their epic ride in Monaco on the 23rd September.
