A team of 49 runners took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 1st October for Prostate Cymru. The team, Prostate Cymru’s largest team for the event to date, raised an incredible £13,372.83 for the charity by fundraising online, at work and in their communities.
Many runners were taking part to show support for family members, friends and members of their local communities who have experienced prostate issues such as benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. Some runners had experienced prostate cancer personally and ran to show their appreciation for the charity’s work. Our brilliant team, whose members were from across Wales and England, completed the race in impressive times ranging from one hour, twenty-six minutes and forty-six seconds to just over three hours.
Cardiff Half Marathon is the second largest road race in the UK after the Great North Run. The popular annual 13.1 mile predominantly flat route takes runners past the capital’s most iconic landmarks with historic buildings and beautiful scenery including Cardiff Bay and Roath Park.
