The Pembrokeshire Friendship Group

Brian Harries (BEM)

Chairman

Brian Harries works in hospitality, running the grade two listed Bristol Trader Pub and Restaurant in Haverfordwest with his wife Margaret. Brian has been the Chairman of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru since late 2014. Brian began fundraising at the age of 16 as a Young Farmer and his dedication to a number of charities since was recognised in 2017 when he was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to charity. An accomplished speaker and charity auctioneer, Brian enjoys providing awareness talks about prostate issues and is passionate about raising awareness across Wales.

John Williams

Secretary

John is retired having spent over 40 years in the motor industry working with local dealerships in Haverfordwest. Having been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015, he was treated successfully by robotic prostatectomy under the guidance of Mr Neil Fenn. John was invited to join the Pembrokeshire Friends in January 2018 after being involved in previous fundraising activities such as The Croesgoch Vintage Tractor Run (2016) Meurig’s Tractor Challenge (2018) and Big Breakfast events locally. John was elected as secretary in January 2019 and hopes to continue the excellent work the group have already achieved.

Judith Griffiths

Vice Chair/Minute Sec

Judith Griffiths joined Pembrokeshire Friends in 2015 after the death of her father Ray Williams OBE, who was the founder member of the friendship group in 2014. She is proud to play a part in supporting the charity in its fundraising and awareness raising in Pembrokeshire. Her current role in the group is Vice Chair and Minute Secretary. Judith’s working life has been devoted to education, having been a teacher for 34 years. Now retired she spends much of her time keeping a watchful eye on the family’s horses and attending equestrian events with her daughter.

Ruth Webb

Committee Member

Ruth Webb joined The Pembrokeshire Friends in 2017 after her husband Clive had prostate cancer. She was a Lloyds Bank official and on retiring from banking became a Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths, meeting people going through sadness and gladness and hopefully, making a difference. Ruth was Area Chairman of NALC Area 46, a charity-based society raising funds locally, nationally and internationally. She is no stranger to public speaking, having spoken at many functions and still doing so. Ruth spends her spare time beekeeping, bell-ringing and producing the church Parish Magazine.

Simon Moffett

Treasurer

Simon Moffett is retired from the oil industry in Milford Haven, and has been a member of Prostate Cymru’s awareness team since 2015. During this time he has also been a member of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru (PFoPC) and is now the local treasurer, always happy to pay money into the account. He can provide buckets, collecting boxes and other materials to help with fundraising. PFoPC events have a serious purpose to raise awareness and funds for the charity, but Simon enjoys that the group makes them a lot of fun as well.
