Two sixth form pupils from Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun skydived for Prostate Cymru on 27th June.
Joseph Evans and Gwen Morgan have been fundraising for the charity since October as part of their Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards. The pair decided to fundraise for the charity as a teacher’s father passed away last year as a result of prostate cancer and they wanted to show support to both the teacher and the charity.
Since October Joseph and Gwen have organised a number of events to raise money including bake sales, raffles, school quizzes, own clothes days and a stall at the Christmas Fayre. A chocolate bouquet raffle was also held at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council towards their fundraising.
On 27th June, Joseph and Gwen took on their biggest fundraising challenge – the skydive! Following the dive Joseph commented, ‘The skydive was amazing. Both me and Gwen really enjoyed it!”
