South Wales MTB complete epic charity challenge

On Saturday 16th July South Wales Mountain Biking Group (South Wales MTB) held a charity cycling challenge for Prostate Cymru. The group set themselves the task of cycling in continuous relay for 24 hours around The Wall/Y Wall in the Afan Forest, using the Bryn Bettws lodge as the base for starting and finishing laps. The Wall/Y Wall trail is 23.5km per lap and each rider completed a minimum of two laps (47km). Despite the awful weather conditions and testing terrain such as rocks, roots and steep angles, the group pushed through and completed the epic challenge.

South Wales MTB had great support from a number of organisations such as Clif Bars who kindly provided a range of energy bars to fuel the cyclists and GTFM, a local radio station in Rhondda Cynon Taf, who helped promote the event and raise awareness of prostate diseases especially prostate cancer.

The group have raised over £1000 so far through sponsorship and online via JustGiving (www.justgiving.com/SouthWalesMTB).
