Welcome to Prostate Cymru

The fundraisers who took on The Big Walk in a weekend.

This year we’ve had an abundance of people taking part in The Big Walk and we have been so grateful for everyone’s dedication to walking 26 miles throughout July.

This month Sally and her dad Dave challenged themselves to walk 26 miles in the space of two days to fundraise for Prostate Cymru’s The Big Walk: Together in Spirit 2020.

This is a cause close to their family’s heart with Dave currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.

So far, they have raised an incredible £1111 for their hard work.

This money will help fund research across Wales to ensure that people suffering with prostate disease will have the best available treatments from the NHS.

If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t worry!

There’s still time to sign up for The Big Walk if you’d like to end July on a high by completing 26 miles to help us save the males in Wales.

Sally and Dave also have a Just Giving page set up. If you would like to sponsor them you can click here.

Kyle Rees from our Celebrity Team took on the challenge of walking The Big Walk in one day over the weekend with his friends Brett Thomas and Anthony Britton.

The amazing support we have had from all of our Celebrity Team this year has been incredible.

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in Wales and the risk increases to 1 in 3 if there is a family history of the disease.

Our Celebrity Team has not only helped us raise funds but has also helped us raise awareness about prostate disease and cancer throughout the pandemic.

You can head over to Kyle’s Instagram, @thekylerees, to see the Instagram TV video of their walk.

Like Kyle, Brett, and Anthony over in Kenfig Hill Chris Leyshon, Joanne Randell, Glenn Loosemore, Gabby Thomas, Jenelle Evans, and Kairon Thomas completed their Big Walk in a day.

They started The Big Walk at Kenfig Hill RFC, where The Big Walk usually draws to a close, and planned their route through Aberavon and The Mumbles.

Through wind and rain, they completed The Big Walk and were cheered on by friends and family on their route.

If you’d like to support Chris and Joanne you can click here to donate.

If you’d like to support Kairon who walked The Big Walk for both Prostate Cymru and Velindre you can click here.

Thank you to everyone taking part in The Big Walk: Together in Spirit 2020.
